The People Behind ACP
Rob Byers
Co-Owner, ACP Painting
Rob Byers co-founded ACP Painting in 2005 with his brother Russ. Both are U.S. Army veterans. More than twenty years later, ACP is still family-owned and operated, serving commercial, HOA, and residential clients across the Phoenix metro and surrounding communities from its Maricopa base and Scottsdale location.
At ACP, Rob is primarily focused on operations. He stays closely involved in commercial projects, estimating and production planning, field management, equipment and fleet needs, hiring, training, safety, and the day-to-day problem-solving that keeps projects on track from start to finish.
That work covers commercial and residential interiors and exteriors, HOA projects, cabinet finishing, metal painting, stucco and drywall repair, and color consultation. A large portion of it comes from repeat clients, including property owners, property managers, facility managers, and general contractors.
Rob believes good painting work starts with accountability and communication. “If we tell a customer we’re going to do something, we need to do it,” he says. “If something changes, communicate it early and figure out the solution.” He also believes strong projects come down to preparation and execution: “I want our crews to understand the scope, have what they need, work safely, and leave the customer with a job we’re proud to put our name on.”
“I believe in striving for perfection, and when we fall short, we make it right and learn from it,” Rob says. “I also believe good communication, strong systems, and proper training are what allow us to consistently deliver a good experience for our customers.”
Rob served in the U.S. Army in the early 1990s as a food service specialist (MOS 94B). He spent two years at Camp Casey, South Korea, with the 2nd Infantry Division, reached the rank of Specialist (E-4) in under two years, and was honorably discharged after completing his full enlistment.
After the Army, he spent about eight years as a cook and chef at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. He then started Byers Home Maintenance in Las Vegas, which gave him hands-on experience running a service business before he moved to Maricopa, Arizona, in 2005 and started ACP Painting with Russ.
Most of Rob’s education has been hands-on and industry-based. Through more than six years of ACP’s involvement with the Painting Contractors Association and Nolan Consulting Group, he has completed training in field leadership, business management, company operations, estimating, and safety. He holds OSHA 30 certification and has completed competent-person, lift operation, ladder safety, and advanced jobsite safety training.
Giving back to the communities ACP works in is a priority for Rob. The company regularly donates painting and cleanup work to local charities, supports food bank efforts, and sponsors community organizations, local youth sports teams, and theater groups. ACP also sponsors and takes part in the Maricopa Memorial Day 5K, which supports local veterans groups, and is a member of the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce, the Chandler Chamber of Commerce, and the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce.
Rob and Russ are proud of the recognition ACP Painting has earned over the years, including Crème de la Copa, Best of Pinal County, multiple Best of Maricopa and Best of Ahwatukee honors, and a Nextdoor Neighborhood Favorite designation. In 2020, readers of the Ahwatukee Foothills News voted ACP first place among painting contractors in Best of Ahwatukee, naming it Painter of the Year. For Rob, those awards are especially meaningful because they reflect the trust customers and the local community have placed in ACP for more than twenty years.
ACP has been BBB accredited since 2015 and maintains an A+ rating. The company operates under Arizona ROC license 294240 and has earned a 4.9-star average across more than 600 customer reviews.
