The People Behind ACP
Shell Abbott
Operations Manager, ACP Painting
Shell Abbott is the Operations Manager at ACP Painting, where she connects the sales, office, and field sides of the company. She manages scheduling, monitors active projects and crew assignments, tracks material needs, and works with the sales and field teams to make sure every project is set up and executed consistently. When a customer concern is escalated, Shell steps in to understand the issue, coordinate a solution, and see it through to completion.
She also plays a key role in ACP’s business relations, working closely with the HOA boards, property managers, commercial clients, and community partners behind much of the company’s long-term and repeat business. Her strength is taking a project from conversation to execution: the property’s needs, scheduling, communication, expectations, and the details it takes to make a job run smoothly.
Training is another big part of her job. Shell helps develop, coordinate, and schedule training for ACP’s team, with an emphasis on consistent processes and expectations across the company. Much of her work is asking questions and spotting gaps before they become problems, so the standards set on one project carry over to every ACP project.
“I ask a lot of questions,” Shell says. “I want to know what’s happening in the field, what the customer was promised, whether our crews have what they need, and whether we’re doing things consistently from one job to the next. I’m a big believer that most problems can be prevented with good communication and clear expectations. And when something does go wrong, I don’t think the goal is to figure out who to blame. The goal is to figure out what happened, make it right, and determine what we can do differently next time.”
Shell is also one of ACP’s public voices. She has appeared alongside ACP President and co-owner Russ Byers on Rosie on the House, discussing exterior paint preparation, Arizona’s monsoon season, summer painting, surface temperatures, advances in paint technology, and keeping crews safe in the Arizona heat. ACP Painting has been a Rosie on the House Certified Partner since 2024.
Before joining ACP, Shell built her management and customer service experience across several industries. She spent many years managing two specialty dog food retail locations, where she oversaw daily operations, employees, customer relationships, inventory, and product education. She also managed a fitness center and worked as an event coordinator, which built her experience in scheduling, organization, problem-solving, and bringing a lot of people and moving parts together. Whether it’s a retail store, an event, or several painting projects at once, her approach hasn’t changed: stay organized, communicate clearly, pay attention to the details, and take care of the people involved.
Shell has taken college courses in a variety of subjects and keeps learning through professional courses, independent study, and hands-on experience. She’s an avid reader and podcast listener, and she makes a habit of applying what she learns to leadership, communication, training, customer service, and business operations.
Outside of work, Shell is heavily involved with her church and serves as a 4-H leader, where she works with and mentors young people. Her community involvement reflects the same values she brings to ACP: showing up, being dependable, continuing to learn, and helping the people around her get better.
ACP Painting was founded in 2005 by brothers Rob and Russ Byers, both U.S. Army veterans, and has stayed family-owned and operated for more than twenty years. The company is headquartered in Maricopa, Arizona, with a second location in Scottsdale. It has been BBB accredited since 2015 and holds an A+ rating, operates under Arizona ROC license 294240, and has earned a 4.9-star average from more than 600 customer reviews.
